New York's Voting System Certification Program Is Nearing Completion

Functional Component of Testing to be conducted the week of September 28th

ALBANY, NY (09/25/2009) -- New York's Voting System Certification Program, the first in the nation to require that voting systems comply with the federal Election Assistance Commission's 2005 Voluntary Voting System Guidelines, is nearing completion.

The New York State Board of Elections will be hosting the functional component of certification testing, as required by state regulation, the week of September 28 through October 2, starting at 9:30 AM each day. This testing sequence will be conducted at Building 3 of the State Office Campus, off Western Avenue, in Albany. This site has been used by the State Board for the acceptance testing of new voting equipment, as well as for training programs for county boards of elections.

Testing on the Dominion ImageCast and ES & S DS-200, both optical scan systems, which may be viewed by the public, will be facilitated by SysTest Labs of Colorado, security consultant NYSTEC of Albany, the Board's Citizen Advisory Committee, as well as State Board staff.
